Even though it's for phpBB2 it still applies.

That screenshot is of phpmyadmin which is where you can back up your database.

The drop table option means it will 'overwrite' any tables already in a database with the new ones you want to restore. It will drop them from the database before adding the new ones from the backup.

There isn't one. What do you want to do?

There isn't supposed to be a restore folder.

If you want to back up, just tick all the boxes like that screenshot says and click Go. It'll download to your computer.

If you need to restore at a later date then bigdump.php is the application of choice and you just make a folder of any name you like on the server for that.

Ok i'm just about to do mine and realise i have an updated version of phpmyadmin where there are more/different boxes,it's different from the pic above,so what boxes do i tick?

Add drop table yes,but what about the 'data' bits down the bottom?
It also says 'blob' instead of binary.

myphpadmin will backup the database - it will not backup your files, which include the uploaded avatars and any attachments plus any changes in styles or modifications.

So do make sure you also use your FTP program to backup the whole file system from time to time also.

Select all tables, make sure that the SQL option is selected -> check "Add DROP TABLE", "IF NOT EXISTS", Add AUTO_INCREMENT value, Enclose export in a transaction, and for the data section check "complete inserts" and set "Save as file" compression = none or zipped (your choice) and if you have a maximum number of rows option increase it from 50000 to 5000000.

And don't worry about the BLOB setting.

uncheck extended inserts and everything else is fine.

if your backup includes extended inserts, then restoring it with bigdump will be impossible.

You can do that from the ACP, Maintenance tab, Backup, by just selecting those tables - users, posts and topics. However, it will be very difficult to import just those tables into a working database if you need to do that later..
