Out of memory

Post by PauGNU »

Hi

This morning my forum shows this:

Code: Select all

SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Out of memory (Needed 134217587 bytes) [5]

SQL

SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT s.session_ip) as num_guests FROM phpbb_sessions s WHERE s.session_user_id = 1 AND s.session_time >= 1212644040

I've read this topic and it seems that I have to talk with my host. However, if I try to visit one of the subforums of my forum, it works:

http://forum.somgnu.cat/ --> error
http://forum.somgnu.cat/viewforum.php?f=16 --> fine

So... what's the problem? Is really because of the memory size in php.ini? But, why I can visit the subforums?. Also, I've realized that sometimes the forum works and sometimes shows the error "Out of memory" (at this moment it works, but before it happened and the showed the error again).

I get the same error on the subforum also :) That error is nothing to do with the php memory limit, that is the mysql memory limit. Have you tried raising the mysql memory limit, it is very likely the host will have to do this for you. That said have you modified the forum in any way which would maybe cause a sql query to eat all the database servers memory?

Well, I'm sure your forum hasn't been sitting there since yesterday, but it was being used. The database is manipulated, a table grows beyond a certain critical limit... boom.
