I notice in the extensions available from github that they are not already packaged in the proper path.
when they are officially released will that change? is there some reason that one will have to create the proper directories and then copy the extension package files into them instead of packaging it with the correct directory structure already in place?

thanks, I guess I should have gone there first. however, now that I have , I see that the example given does not even follow the rules. when you unzip the file, you have a folder with the same name as the file and then you get to the vendor name and extention name folders.
I would think that when you unzip the file that you would see the folder "vendorname"
then all you have to do is upload that folder to the ext directory on the server.

When submitting an extension to phpBB for validation/release they should be zipped as "vendorname/extname" so when you download them, they will already be in the proper folder structure.

It is a descision by the extension author. We never made requirements for the development forums, like packaging. Plus, the policies haven't been online for a that long time, so most authors didn't know yet at that moment that it would be a requirement.
