My extension Template Events, which shows the location of all template events inside your board and makes it easy to find quickly the ones you are looking for.

How does that help with extension writing?
I'm wondering the same...
Sorry, haven't been around for a while, I saw XAMPP and MAMP listed to quickly have a local developement server. Vagrant will allow you to do the same. Apologies for being unclear.

Does anyone know if there exists a PHPBB coding standard sniff library for PHP-Code Sniffer? I've created my own, but it's still missing some things.

if you're converting a Mod to an extension, use phpStorm. It costs abit but you can use it free for 30 days.

It automatically tells you what functions are deprecated.

For example request_var is marked here :

because it's marked as deprecated in the function itself.

Alright we need to infuse some real (free) text editors into this then ;)
Sublime Text - All platforms
Atom - All platforms, by GitHub
Sublime Text is not free, but costs $70 per user. I will try Atom when v1.0 comes out.
Geany also runs on many platforms: Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, MacOS X, AIX v5.3, Solaris Express and Windows (Windows with a few limitations).
Sublime text is WinRar free :)...

Added to the list:
phpBB Skeleton Extension - An extension that adds an easy tool to a (local) phpBB development forum to generate a basic starter extension. Good for creating the initial files and packaging when starting a new extension.

If you're using Sourcetree, don't upgrade to 1.8 just yet. it's a mess.

Just wrote a small bash script that outputs a statistic for language files.

Basically you supply language file with and an extension root directory and it will output statistics of how many times given language key is used. It's simple and ugly, but it does what it is supposed to ...

P.S.: Just got the idea to add key to show only unused keys ... just not now.

O'reilly added a section with free programming E-books. the only catch is that you have to give your email address. But there's really alot to choose from : http://www.oreilly.com/programming/free/

No endorsement of PhpStorm as an editor? It's practically required to get an extension approved as it is hard to find an editor that checks references, finds uninitialized or unused variables. It does cost money, however.
