Smileys on external page

Post by Mooncow » Fri Apr 01, 2016 3:40 pm

Hi, so I've pulled some topics to an external page on my website, but following the upgrade to 3.1 the smileys do not show: http://chao.hippotank.com/news (4th 5th and 6th posts down for examples)

The parsing from the smiley code to image URL works, but instead of the regular root path defined, it adds my server file structure!

This is the root and includes i have:

Code: Select all

$phpbb_root_path = (defined('PHPBB_ROOT_PATH')) ? PHPBB_ROOT_PATH : 'forum/';
require_once($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/functions_display.' . $phpEx);
require_once($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/functions_admin.' . $phpEx);
require_once('functions_news.' . $phpEx);
I love teh phpBB

There is a generate_text_for_display function in phpBB. I think you'd need to call that as it should take smilies, BBCode etc and turn it into HTML.

In phpBB 3.2 it will become moot as posts will store as HTML in the database, at least new posts.
