I've now changed the [3.1+] prefixes to be [3.1][3.2] for better clarity.

Thanks for the feedback, and Rich as well.
Thanks David

Just as an aside - are there any plans to release this extension?

It's here:
https://github.com/phpbb-extensions/topicprefixes/

Release for it will be planned sometime soon.

Any chance to have some topic prefixes also in this forum?

Like:
[3.1]
[3.1][3.2]
[3.2]
[Tool]
[Migration]
[Class]
[API]
[Function]
[SQL] ...

Mostly to let the readers see at a first glance if what they are bound to read could be compatible with their needs, not to mention that in case a writer would like to share a tool, function, class etc. that only works with a specified version of phpBB then such a facility make it all easier, like in the extensions forum.

Examples:

[3.1][Migration] How to add BBcode

[3.1][3.2][Tool] Restore BOTs as default

[3.1][Migration] Service replacement for DB Tools

I have no problems with that if everyone can come up with a good comprehensive list.

Personally I am not sure that this would be a good idea. Quite often a topic in Extension Writers can go off topic in other directions, or can cover several topics and things could get lost or it is not always obvious which of the prefixes would be most appropriate

Prefixes are meant to be also changed in the run.

Don't see a need for it here. There's almost no use case for it here, and there's no reason somebody wanting to put it in their title can't just, you know, type it in!

We use it in the Ext Dev forum because they are required in those topic titles, and it gives us a better chance of consistency that people will use them correctly if they are pre-fabricated.

We created this extension for use on here at phpBB.com. It's nowhere near as feature-rich as some other attempts we've seen, which may either still be in development or abandoned. However, we may eventually release this one as an official extension. In the mean time, this is a live forum and we're using here so.... ;) You can always give it a shot on your own forum though we won't provide any support for it unless it gets an official release.
