Extensions Documentation

Post by VSE » Mon Dec 05, 2016 8:44 pm

The phpBB Extensions Team is pleased to present our new Extensions Documentation.

We have brought together all our various development resources from our guides, wikis and tutorials. As of today, the official place to find documentation for writing and developing phpBB extensions is here:

For phpBB 3.1: Extensions Documentation
For phpBB 3.2: Extensions Documentation

Note that the Doc branches are virtually identical, with only minor differences specific to the versions of phpBB. We will be implementing in the near future a mechanism in the Docs to toggle/switch between versions.

We will be taking down the old and outdated pages, or providing redirect links, to reduce the confusion of the past and ensure our new unified Docs are easy to reach.

Thank you developers!

Thanks a lot, very useful indeed, and the fact that it is consolidated in a single point, even better.

May I suggest that it would be useful to have the option to see both versions at the same time, at least if they are minor? This will help those that want to develop for both versions...

Again, thanks a lot!

It will toggle the page you're viewing between the different version branches (just like how Symphony documentation works). There will usually be a note/warning in the docs whenever there is something that is different between 3.2 and an earlier version (i.e.: 3.1).

You should (always) be viewing the docs for the minimum version you are developing for. If that is phpBB 3.1, then read 3.1 docs and ignore 3.2, because you can't use it's new features.

Missing notifications? Also, could there be a section for one notification type and multiple notification types?
