warmweer wrote: โ†‘Mon Feb 19, 2018 5:11 pmSo the steps are:
1. get the phpbb2more or less installed (on localhost -Xampp) (empty the search tables)
2. update to the latest phpBB 2 (2.0.22?)
3. upgrade to 3.0.14
4. upgrade to 3.1.12 (for this step support will be plentiful on the forum)
Like I said before, I get an error when trying to import database because of search tables. I don't see how I would be able to import all tables except search tables. The only option in my mind is to comment them out in the database dump. Wich I do not know how to do yet.
Thanks.

Listen, you can't comment out those data there, you simply have to delete them (do a backup first) from the .sql file you have, with a decent text-editor.

You only need the schema, not the data dump, for those tables.

Like "CREATE TABLE etc.. etc.." (schema)

I suspect the database backup is 1 large SQL file.
Use a text editor which can handle really large files: see viewtopic.php?f=461&t=2280176
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

Oops, that was directed at the TS, not at you (although come to think of it, it could be advice for everyone  )

just to muddy it up a bit.

if the OP is importing the old phpbb2 database into a new blank database, there is no way to get the error he is getting.
so, one has to assume that he is trying to import the phpbb2 database into an existing phpbb3 database.

if that is correct then that is the problem. no part of the conversion process involves importing the phpbb2 database into the phpbb3 database.

what the OP should be doing is importing it into a new empty database. then, as suggested, create a phpbb2 config.php file pointing to that database.
then using the phpbb3 install, run the phpbb2 to phpbb3 conversion.

I too suggest that you upgrade to 3.2.1 instead of trying to go all the way to 3.2.2 until all is running well.

You can TRUNCATE the three search_* tables and make another backup.

I have deleted all instances of INSERT INTO f762dce_search_wordlist and the installation seems to worked fine. But before upgrading to 3.1 (or first 3.0) I would like to run a database clean tables querry. To get rid of SQL added by MODs. I know there was a phpBB2 MOD for that, but don't seem to find it. If someone could point it up to me, it would be nice.
Thanks.

LATER EDIT: Nevermind. I've found it. It is Clean Tables 1.0.9.
