SEO Mod

Post by Blueprins »

Hi my friends,

when I was using 3.0.6 I had phpBB SEO mod, and all my topics and forums were finishing with "html". But now I have new fresh install 3.1.3 and all my old topics with html give now 404 error on google search, and it's more than 50.000 pages.

Fox example:

http://www.askmasali.com/forum/olmadi-iste-t73706.html old topic
http://www.askmasali.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=73706 now

http://www.askmasali.com/forum/balon-gi ... 73834.html old topic
http://www.askmasali.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=73834 now

So I want to know that are there any SEO mod ext for 3.1.1 ?

if not, then can I easily change these html pages to normal topic like viewtopic?

Thank you

You should ask on phpbb-seo.com as they're the ones who made the old MOD.

Thanks a lot. Now, I'm completely not sure. I want to depend on any mod and owner of the mod. So do you advice me to use really phpBB SEO ?

Is this really doesn't matter for google HTML TOPIC or viewtopic.php? :|

Nope. Google doesn't care one bit. It's mainly logging content.

Installing a mod/extension is down to you but phpBB certainly doesn't need any mod/extension to work correctly.

Thanks KevC. If so, then I don't install any SEO ext on my board. Now, I have many a lot of 404 error pages and this I can not fix. In the future I don't want this problem again. I late then google to index only my default viewforum.php and viewtopic.php. Better. Thanks a lot

Yes sure Mick I know, thanks. I use phpBB since 2003. My only purpose was only late google to easily index my pages with descriptions and title of the page. Maybe there is a mod I think, only change description and title of page according to the topic?

It won't do what you want. The description of that extension makes it clear it is only setting the meta description not changing the URL. Search engines haven't used meta descriptions for SEO purposes for many years.

The Support forum is not the place to ask about extensions.

Yes I don't want more to change url, only wanted to ask that ext which changes the meta description enough is. But you said that also for years google don't look at meta description.

Thanks everyone for helpfully posts. ;)

the best thing you can do for SEO is to get lots of relevant content. the next thing to do is make sure that your forum and topic titles have relevant keywords in them about whatever your board is about.

google doesn't care what the URL is, google doesn't care what the meta description is. the meta description will have not noticeable effect on SEO, however, the meta description is what people will see when they do find your board in a search return.
