Please describe your problem. Attachment downloads have become extremely slow. Only image attachments are permitted, and when the attachment is downloaded (i.e. file.php is called) the file is streamed out at a slow rate. For instance, I am seeing (at times) upwards of 3 seconds to transmit this 153K file:

http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/download/ ... &mode=view

The rest of the site is running quickly. The site is on a dedicated server, and the server is very powerful - CPU and disk is essentially idling while this file is being served up. Bandwidth available is >100Mbps. Direct links to image files download instantaneously.

It's only when files are served via file.php (and from there to send_file_to_browser() inside functions_download.php) that they are sent very slowly.

I tried increasing the chunk size inside send_file_to_browser() from 8192 to 65536, with no improvement.

This is running under IIS7.5 on Server 2008 R1.

This can be ignored. We had a disk in the RAID that was failing, and the disk queue had gone near 100%. Replaced the disk, rebuilt the RAID and performance has returned to normal.

Interesting however that IIS was able to serve the file up quickly with no delays, yet the send_file_to_browser() function inside PHPBB, using fopen() and echo() was performing so poorly.
