BBCodes being ignored when rendered

Do you have any MODs installed? No
Do you have any extensions installed? No
What version of phpBB3 did you update from? phpBB 3.1.4
What styles do you currently have installed? Prosilver
What language(s) is your board currently using? English
Which database type/version are you using? MS SQL Server
What is your level of experience? Experienced with PHP and phpBB
What actions did you take (updating your board; installing a MOD, style or extension; etc.) prior to this problem becoming noticeable? n/a
Please describe your problem. Occasionally there are posts which include correct use of BBCodes, however these BBCodes are not rendered correctly when viewed. I can find no commonality between the posts that are incorrectly displayed. Editing and resaving the posts does not fix the problem. An example is this post:

Duh. Thank you. I know better...I was looking for a complex answer to a simple question. I run a SQL query every so often to turn the BBCode default on for all users to avoid this issue, I guess it's time to run it again.

update phpbb_users set user_options = user_options | 256 where user_options & 256 = 0

It should be on by default anyway.
That user must have decided to turn it off. You can turn it back on again in their profile preferences.

Right. But I have 60,000+ users, so it's a lot simpler to just turn it back on for everyone who might have turned it off, by running the query I wrote above.

That's assuming all the user's (all 60k of them?) want that turned on. Maybe they turned it off because they didn't want to use it, that's the idea of the UCP?

I agree with Mick. why do you care if your members have it set on or off? that is a personal choice and is a choice to make on a post by post basis.

If you really don't want anyone to ever be able to turn it off then remove that choice all together.

however, that would require several changes and is probably not worth it.
