User is IP banned, but he is actually not (?)

Post by davym123 » Sun Nov 15, 2015 8:15 am

I've had a user contact me that he is IP banned.
He never visited the forum before, and I told him to visit whatismyip.com and give me the big number on the screen.
But the IP that he gave me is not in my IP ban list, I also checked the phpbb ip bans in the database, just in case. And it's also not visible there. Any idea what else I could do? Can I whitelist his IP somehow?

PHPBB 3.1.5

He showed me this:

What plugins are you using? It might be do to another type of plugin that is checking on visit access on whether or not the user's IP is found inside of a database (you said you checked the forum's own ban list, but did you check any plugins such as StopForumSpam, Akismet, or others).

Stopforumspam extension doesn't check that, only on registration. To the OP do you have a range of ip's entered in the ban table? EG, 192.168.*

Most of those plugins aren't within the database on here so you would probably have to seek assistance from the authors of those plugins because something is triggering the ban and if not in the ban table then not something from phpBB itself.

Ask your host to whitelist the IP.
Who is your host? Some free hosts get banned by ISP's, it's known that AT&T block all 000webhost and hostinger servers for example.
A thread is pretty much a topic. Stop with the pedantics will ya.
