Rewrite url in 3.1.7-pl1 not working

Post by cube909 » Fri Feb 26, 2016 3:36 am

Hi folks,

My forum or possibly host not generating clean url's for my forum links :cry: Hosting provider is godaddy. My forum htacess file looks like this.

Code: Select all

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on

#
# Uncomment the statement below if you want to make use of
# HTTP authentication and it does not already work.
# This could be required if you are for example using PHP via Apache CGI.
#
#RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization},L]

#
# The following 3 lines will rewrite URLs passed through the front controller
# to not require app.php in the actual URL. In other words, a controller is
# by default accessed at /app.php/my/controller, but can also be accessed at
# /my/controller
#
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ app.php [QSA,L]

#
# If symbolic links are not already being followed,
# uncomment the line below.
# http://anothersysadmin.wordpress.com/2008/06/10/mod_rewrite-forbidden-403-with-apache-228/
#
Options +FollowSymLinks
</IfModule>
Please advice where might be the problem with my config files. I am new to phpbb forum system.

What do you consider "clean url's"? What are you expecting to happen? phpBB works quite nicely out of the box so I'm not sure what you mean. Can we have a link to your board as well please?

SEO friendly topics links, say like you see on Xenforo for example. Or what previous SEO mods did for this forum engine.

I wrongfully assumed that by activating this feature rewrite Urls in forum settings it would generate user visible links like this forums/announcements/ or .html page without user seeing calls to db tables. That is what I meant. :)

But I got it already, so far in the latest build this option is not included. Any working add ons for 3.1.8?,I have already upgraded my board.

Yes, it will. If well installed and configured. It's kinda complex. I pay to a friend to do this to me. Cheers

Why? Every forum engine uses user-friendly/SEO urls out of the box.

Because phpbb-seo has changed the core code of phpBB. There is no way for the team to know what changes they made and it isn't up to them to provide support for phpbb-seo code. That would be up to those that created phpbb-seo.
