SQL ERROR... Is this a bug ?

Post by Incoming » Thu May 12, 2016 12:22 pm

Hello all,

I'm using 3.1.9 phpBB updated. When I hit the "Quick links" > "Your posts" I get the following error :

Code: Select all

SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Expression #1 of SELECT list is not in GROUP BY clause and contains nonaggregated column 'mysitedb.p.post_id' which is not functionally dependent on columns in GROUP BY clause; this is incompatible with sql_mode=only_full_group_by [1055]
What does it mean? How to solve it?
I tried to do the same with 3 different accounts and the error still occurs.

Thanks!

I doubt that it is a bug in phpBB as there would be more reports of it not working and I have just tested in on three different boards and I am not getting the error.

We need a link to your board so that we can see what is happening.

One question - do you have ant extensions installed?

Hi, I update each time a new version is released since 3.1.2.
I update automatically (by hand), each time everything goes well.
In case of doubt, I've just replaced the last "search.php" file but it doesn't change anything.

Could it be a MySQL problem? I've recently migrated to 5.7 and PHP 5.6.
Can I perform some SQL commands to show you any more useful informations?

I can't show you any link from my phpBB forum I'm really sorry for that (I apologize for that).

Thanks for your further help!

the easiest and best way to update from one 3.1 version to the next is by simply replacing all the old files with new ones except for the config.php file. then run the database update .php file then delete the folder named install and you are done.

the whole point of the 3.1 version is the ease of updating without having to worry about modified core files.

I would suggest you go ahead and download the complete 3.1.9 package from here and unzip it and remove the config.php file and upload all the rest.
then run the database update file again and then delete the folder named install and then test.

Excuse me for this I didn't saw, so yes. I have some extensions installed. Especially one extension I deactivated. When deactivated I tried again the link, and this time the error is bigger than in my initial post.

SQL

SELECT DISTINCT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS p.post_id FROM phpbb_topics t, phpbb_posts p WHERE p.poster_id = '2' AND ((p.forum_id NOT IN (23, 22) AND p.post_visibility = 1) OR p.forum_id IN (2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, 20, 27)) AND p.forum_id NOT IN (22, 23) AND t.topic_id = p.topic_id GROUP BY t.topic_id, t.topic_last_post_time ORDER BY t.topic_last_post_time DESC

Something is odd here. ego search, which is the "Your posts" link is generated from within search.php file. There is no GROUP BY in action within that file. Are you 100% certain that
  1. Your search is the same file as found from the 3.1.9 download and
  2. you have no other extensions installed?
Show the directories found within your ext directory (image, screen grab). Something is adding things to the search feature via an extension if the core search.php file hasn't been altered.

Rich, the traceback above says it is coming from fulltext_native.php

Do you think a replacement of this file will fix this problem? I never touched this file before!

I deactivated each extension. The problem is still here. Do you think it's coming from the MySQL 5.7.11?

I've noticed that when I click on the user posts numbers (under the avatar) to see all his messages, I have this error too! What is going on?! I haven't that before I'm pretty sure! I

Code: Select all

SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Expression #1 of ORDER BY clause is not in SELECT list, references column 'mysitedb.p.post_time' which is not in SELECT list; this is incompatible with DISTINCT [3065]
