I see a lot of free forum creator sites that use phpbb. How would I go about making my own free foru creator site?

You'd need to create a script which let's people sign up and then either provision the accounts/forums manually or you would need to let the script take care of it by communicating to a back end API (this also needs to be written by you) which would provision the account/forum automatically.

If you don't expect to have huge number of signups you can probably just provision the accounts/forums manually. If you are sure that you can write a secure solution which automates this process, then do that — as time is very valuable! :)

Best wishes,

Are there any scripts that exist?

Probably - but you are unlikely to find them on here.

Just a point to note if you go down this route. Once you alter the core phpBB files to provide this facility then you will need to support all the users of your package as nobody on this board will know what has changed and if there are problems will not know where to look.

I don't think you will find one. I never could find one that had been updated to work with current versions of 3.0

also, there is no point in worrying about finding one for 3.1 when it will reach end of life next year I believe.

If you are going to try to get someone to create a new free forum script you should probably get it done for 3.2.

If I need a script, I will do it myself. I want to be able to manage the sites from the ACP of the master installation, for example if I create a support forum for the users I will install my extension there and I would be able to mange the sites fro the ACP of that forum. I would want to create a signup page as the home page of the main site so people could sign up and create their free forum. Maybe I will post a thread in extensions writer discussion and ask how I would go about creating something like that.
