This indicates that you are trying to do a conversion instead of an update.
You didn't follow the procedure posted by Mick step by step - if at all ...
That is because there is no other option just "Convert"

Then you're doing it wrong ...
Read Mick's post on how to update again and do it exactly the way described.

Plus you have to use the correct package: you need to download the one called "Full Package" - none of the other ones offered behind the remainig tabs.

This is the way all my upgrades and updates worked since the release of 3.1.0.

You need to navigate directly to the file: install/database_update.php in your browser.
If you only go to the install folder itself you will be presented with the option Convert, you don't want that.

Yes, I did that and got to http://www.amray.com/forum/install/database_update.php
and then http://www.amray.com/forum/ucp.php?mode=login only to find blank page

If I just go to /forum/install, I'm getting just 'convert'
and yes, I have renamed 'install'

I don't see how, I've just been there and saw:

the point of that is that the database update has been run and completed properly.

the blank page probably has nothing to do with the database update.

now you need to find out why you have a blank page. that is normally some type of php error.

you can check the server error logs to find out what it is.

however, what I would do is upload all new files again except for the config.php file.

make sure they all get uploaded in binary using your ftp.

make sure they are all being replaced with the new copies.

test.

if you still get a blank page check the server error logs.

you are not supposed to go to that page. you should only be going to this page:
http://www.amray.com/forum/install/database_update.php

which I just did and the database has now been updated. you do have a blank page.

so, now, no more worries about updating. it is done.

the problem now is the blank page.

go to your hosting control panel, find the error logs and show us what the first few lines in that log are.

What is the name of the style you were running in your current version before attempting the upgrade? Reupload the folder for that style into the /styles folder and see what happens. The message says it is looking for the index_html of the style the database is looking for. The prosilver index_body.html is present.

The style I was using lately "synergy" but... because I never backup last board,
I have ended up with old backup which have the following styles

Code: Select all

 Edit Copy Delete 2 subsilver2 © 2005 phpBB Group 1 2 2 2
 Edit Copy Delete 10 prosilver © phpBB Group, 2007 1 7 1 1
 Edit Copy Delete 11 Iconic_Red © phpBB Group, 2007; © GamingBOB.com, 2007-2008 1 8 3
and of course I have deleted 'Iconic_Red' and it is not in list of styles,
it's looks like I'm having problems.

What changes should I make in tables to make prosilver my default style?

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_styles SET style_active= 1 WHERE style_name = 'prosilver';
UPDATE phpbb_config SET config_value = 10 WHERE config_name = 'default_style';
UPDATE phpbb_config SET config_value = 1 WHERE config_name = 'override_user_style'
Backup the config and styles tables before running this query.

If your table prefix is not phpbb_, change accordingly.

sounds like maybe your table prefix is not phpbb_

check and if not, edit the queries accordingly and try again.
