Ok, not sure what is going on here. by default settings, guest user is set to no for can view memberlist etc.
when you visit the board as a guest, you can not see that contact bubble.
since guests can not or should not be in any other group, there are no other permissions that apply to the guest group.

if you set the newly registered user group to never for that same permission, the same thing happens.

as long as you are in the NRU you can not see that contact bubble.

I have now tested this three times.

Well if I can get this so-called template variable to work that would be great.

I installed a fresh board. Guest, i.e no account just browsing the forum can see the contact bubble with that permission I set in the image to never.

That isn't the permission to set. It is the permissions found under the private message tab (the can send PM's) that trigger the contact bubble to display or not.

I'll look again, but I set everything to Never in the NRUG and Guests and still the Contact bubble shows up.

If that is truly the case then I would suspect an extension.

Then your permissions aren't set correctly.

Just to clarify, can you tell me what permissions need to be set? As I already stated I installed this fresh for testing this. I set the NRU and Guests group to all Never.

On a clean install there are no permissions that need to be set - they are set to "No" for both groups by default.

They were. Despite that the Contact bubble shows up. I changed everything to Never and still the Contact bubble shows up.

just to check; are you logging out and then checking as a guest? are you then logging in and checking as a member of the NRU group that has not met whatever requirements you set for moving out of that group into the RU group?

Yeah, I have logged out and as I'm a guest I can see the Contact bubble. I even cleared my browser cache and the forum cache and tried another browser.

Is this possibly a Cloudflare issue?
