Missing smilies

Post by Blackquote » Mon Nov 28, 2016 3:31 pm

Hi,
I'm upload new similies to my board (with acp, manual).
Now, smilies missing in my old posts (no problem with new posts).
http://prntscr.com/dct9x7
Old posts try to get smiling smilie in here:
./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
But new smiling smilie here:
./images/smilies/icon_slight_smile.png

Can i update old posts? Or something else?

Thanks.

The old smiley name is embedded in each post at time of posting. If you deleted the old smilies and uploaded new ones with different image names then the original image in the post no longer exists. Your best bet is to re-install your old smilies with their original names but do not tick the "Display on posting page" box so that they are not offered as an option in future. They should then be visible on your old posts.

I don't think you need to reinstall the smilies. Just upload an image with the name it's expecting but isn't finding on the server.

You're right KevC, it's not strictly necessary to install the old smilies but if you put them into the directory every time you go to install a new smiley they will all be queued up waiting to be installed. IMHO better to do it the first time and get it over with.

What I mean is, it's already installed. The OP has just removed the graphic for it.

The posts are looking for an image that no longer exists so all you have to do it give it what it wants.

You are probably correct, I may have misunderstood the OP.
