Amending FAQs - what file?

Post by pennycsf »

Hello all
I am updating from 3.0.12 to 3.1.10 and need to amend the FAQs shown on the forum.

What file should I be editing?

Thanks in advance.

You can use the FAQ Manager extension for that once you've upgraded to 3.1. :)

I would just like to add that the FAQ manager extension will not work, and cannot be made to work, with phpBB 3.2, so if you plan upgrading in the not too distant future (when phpBB 3.2 is released) then I would not waste too much time reconfiguring the FAQ.

Thanks for the replies!

As the extension will not work in 3.2, I repeat the question - what file(s) do I need to modify?

Thanks in advance.

In 3.1 it would be the language file help_faq.php.

In 3.2 it will be more difficult.

You could just make a forum called FAQs and make topics. Then you'll never have to edit the files again.

But the FAQ link at top of page is a simpler way for newcomers to find the FAQs.

Depends how you set your board up. Most sites have a category with rules, info and FAQ stuff right at the top where it's easy to find.

I used the pages extension to create a page with all the info I wanted my members to know that were beyond the FAQ. You can see it at the link in my sig. It's the "how to" link next to FAQ. :)

A nice idea, and well executed.

Thanks.

Is there a reason it's more difficult to edit the FAQ in 3.2? It seems this is going in the opposite direction.
