Login issues

Post by Jestcoyote » Sat Apr 29, 2017 11:41 pm

Sometime this morning my forum became irratic for everyone's login.
When someone tries to login, they get logged in as a different user, I believe someone who recently tried to login.
When they try to logout they get an error message "You were not logged out, as the request did not match your session."
Even if you manage to get logged in it is not at the present time, I.e. You might be a few hours previous and cannot see posts from a few minutes ago.

I have read about this in another thread but tried without success their suggestions.
I purged the cache
I purged all sessions
I changed the cookie domain from localhost to .eomahaforums.com

phpbb 3.1.4
Using prosilver
Hosted by Bluehost

Extensions:
Advanced BBCode Box 3.1.0
Auto Database Backup 1.1.0
External Links Open in New Window 1.0.0
Fade Header 1.0.7
Happy Anniversary 0.1.0
Last Post Avatar 1.0.2
NavBar Search 1.0.1
Profile side switcher 0.0.1

I do not know what it is but I'm experiencing a lot of trouble myself now, bug that only arises from nowhere. You can look at my question which is almost the same.

This behaviour is symptomatic of Cloudflare (or similar) being incorrectly configured.

your web server has some type of cache which is affecting login cookie.
Response Headers from Cache

Server --> nginx/1.12.0
Vary --> Accept-Encoding
X-Acc-Exp --> 3600
X-Proxy-Cache --> STALE
please contact your web host and ask to disable the cache system for your domain

OK, it has been 6 hours and the BlueHost htaccess additions have not worked yet.
Should I wait longer or contact their technical support again?

Thanks

Had a second live chat with BlueHost. This guy asked a specialist, cleared the cache in 10 seconds, everything appears to be back in order. Thanks for the help guys!

I will ask our host to carry out the same process in the morning - this issue is affecting a LOT of people, as you will see from this and support topics in 3.2.x Support Forum.

All the best,
Cal :)

Just to add to this thread. The site I manage is having the same issue. It is also on bluehost. AND it started around the same day this thread was started.

Maybe bluehost made a change to something around the end of April that caused this issue for people.

This is now a known issue with that host and their Varnish settings on shared hosting
