Test Installation

Post by KlausiMaus » Sat Mar 03, 2018 7:15 pm

I'm having trouble updating my currently active forum from 3.1.10 to 3.2.x.
In general, the board has quirks.
In order not to disturb the current operation, I have set up a test forum, in principle, an exact copy of the active forum, only connected to another database, but which corresponds exactly to the image of the active database.
Works so far quite well, only the test installation does not run, HTTP 500 error.
I also checked the web settings, they should be the same.
I do not know any more why that could be.

Check server's error log for the "500" error

Did you empty the cache folder in your test system (delete all files except index.php and .htaccess)
Did you check the file and folder permissions according to the installation instructions? As you are on a local windows systems, you can try to set all files and folders to writable (personally I don't have any experience running a wamp stack because I work with linux, so that's just a guess)

Cache is deleted, folder permissions are correct -remember it’s a complete copy of the active forum, but it will not work!

Perhaps telling us what these "quirks" are might help.

Can you clarify which version is throwing the error 3.1.10 or 3.2.x and if it is 3.2.x which minor version?

As for the error it may be a corrupt file or if you are part way through updating that you have a mix of 3.1 and 3.2 files. You could try re-uploading the [root]/phpbb folder (the error is not with the config.php file in the root that contains the database connection data but the config.php file in the phpbb folder)

One of the problems with the current forum is that "manage extensions" in the ACP is no longer available.

But the main thing that is involved here is simply that one installation works, the other does not!
Both are identical!
"forum.kuhnert.ch]" works, that is with the update problem and
"test.kuhnert.ch" does not work, it should be the same installlation as described at the beginning.

I start a totally new installation "forum.kuhnert.net" (3.2.2), maybe there is a way to transfer the data.

That would not appear to be the case - there is something different between the two.

Yes, they are identical, except the database. Here is a copy of the active one in use to avoid any mismatch.

Is there any reference to the URL, which has changed from forum.kuhnert.ch to test.kuhnert.ch?
