[Release] Aluminoid for phpBB 3.1

Post by Thunderbolt10031 » Wed Nov 26, 2014 8:32 am

I'm sure a lot of people were disappointed to find out that Aluminoid for phpBB 2 did not make it to phpBB 3. Well I have re-made Aluminoid for phpBB 3. In all its glory I have checked up and down for any imperfections and have gotten rid of pretty much all of them.
When you look at it or when you download it you will probably realize that the original buttons aren't there. Well I have replaced them with buttons that look more modern, that contrast very well with the grey in the style.

So what are you waiting for take a look at it, download it, and tell me what you think.

Here is some basic info on the style:
Style Name: Aluminoid
Original Style Author: sbrunkow
New Style Author: Thunderbolt10031
Style Description:This style looks like the Mac OS X metal interface. Mostly all grey, also based around metal.

Style Version: 2.0.3

Downloads(sorry I don't have it for 3.0.x):
3.1.5: http://www.mediafire.com/download/334wp ... -3.1.5.zip

Hey I have a question for you all. Would you like for me to make this style for the prosilver platform?

Thanks for making and releasing this style!
I installed Aluminoid on Campertechniek.eu, a technical forum, where the style would fit perfectly.
IMHO it looks great (my 2400 visitors were used to subsilver2 and some are complaining ever since the upgrade!)

However, I cannot find the buttons "new topic" and "post reply"..... What am I doing wrong?
Regards,
Ernst

That's odd they work fine for me. Do you have subsilver activated?

not because I want it, but because subsilver2 will eventually be phased out completely and many people will not even know they can get it because it does not come with the download and is it not very easy to find.

if you can convert it to prosilver based it would probably be much better for you and for anyone wanting to use it.

it always has been a nice looking style.

Oh... looks like I came in with this style a little late, but that's ok it will probably be a whole lot cooler on the prosilver platform anyway :) . The only thing that bothers me is trying to find the correct CSS file you need in prosilver because it has a ton of them and the names aren't that clear either. :?

you can use your own css files that will work in place of the prosilver ones.

https://www.phpbb.com/styles/create/

as to your question about the prosilver css files;

colours.css will have the colors and the images

common.css will have most everything else

if you can't find it in those two then check the content.css and/or the buttons.css files.

I agree that it would be better without so many different css files.

Subsilver2 disappeared completely somewhere between 3.0.12 and 3.1.2....
Should I re-install it? I was told the 3.0 styles wouldn't work in 3.1.

After reading your reply, I looked around and found out Subsilver2 should still work. So I installed a new version and activated it. The forum looks just like before, so I think (most of) the users will be very happy.

But I personally like Aluminoid better, so, if you could look into the missing buttons, I'd be very grateful!

Ernst

The buttons shouldn't be missing at all. They are present in the downloads and the CSS files all match up with the original CSS files so nothing wrong there. Can you please go into more detail on the issue please.

Are the links for the buttons present but the image is not, or is everything missing (no link, no image)? One way or another I have to know.

Just a random page from my forum (standard style is now again subsilver2): http://www.campertechniek.eu/phpbb3/vie ... =47&t=6167

The links are there, but the buttons are invisible. I tried it in Chrome, Firefox and Safari....

That link goes to Subsilver2. Go to the ACP go to styles and then preview Aluminoid then go to a topic and post the the link you have in the browser. Just make sure that its under the Aluminoid preview.
