Add this code:

Code: Select all

#site-description h1 {
    visibility: hidden;
}

#site-description {
    width: 100% !important;
    text-align: center;
}

.logo {
    float: none !important;
}

.search-header {
    margin-top: -40px !important;
}
to:

Code: Select all

phpbb/styles/prosilver/theme/common.css

Delete following code from template/overall_header.html:

Code: Select all

			<!-- EVENT overall_header_searchbox_before -->
			<!-- IF S_DISPLAY_SEARCH and not S_IN_SEARCH -->
			<div id="search-box" class="search-box search-header" role="search">
				<form action="{U_SEARCH}" method="get" id="search">
				<fieldset>
					<input name="keywords" id="keywords" type="search" maxlength="128" title="{L_SEARCH_KEYWORDS}" class="inputbox search tiny" size="20" value="{SEARCH_WORDS}" placeholder="{L_SEARCH_MINI}" />
					<button class="button icon-button search-icon" type="submit" title="{L_SEARCH}">{L_SEARCH}</button>
					<a href="{U_SEARCH}" class="button icon-button search-adv-icon" title="{L_SEARCH_ADV}">{L_SEARCH_ADV}</a>
					{S_SEARCH_HIDDEN_FIELDS}
				</fieldset>
				</form>
			</div>
			<!-- ENDIF -->
In template/navbar_header.html find:

Code: Select all

		<!-- IF S_DISPLAY_SEARCH and not S_IN_SEARCH -->
			<li class="rightside responsive-search" style="display: none;"><a href="{U_SEARCH}" title="{L_SEARCH_ADV_EXPLAIN}" role="menuitem">{L_SEARCH}</a></li>
		<!-- ENDIF -->
Add after:

Code: Select all

		<li class="rightside">
			<!-- EVENT overall_header_searchbox_before -->
			<!-- IF S_DISPLAY_SEARCH and not S_IN_SEARCH -->
			<div id="search-box" class="search-box search-header" role="search">
				<form action="{U_SEARCH}" method="get" id="search">
				<fieldset>
					<input name="keywords" id="keywords" type="search" maxlength="128" title="{L_SEARCH_KEYWORDS}" class="inputbox search tiny" size="20" value="{SEARCH_WORDS}" placeholder="{L_SEARCH_MINI}" />
					<button class="button icon-button search-icon" type="submit" title="{L_SEARCH}">{L_SEARCH}</button>
					<a href="{U_SEARCH}" class="button icon-button search-adv-icon" title="{L_SEARCH_ADV}">{L_SEARCH_ADV}</a>
					{S_SEARCH_HIDDEN_FIELDS}
				</fieldset>
				</form>
			</div>
			<!-- ENDIF -->
		</li>
You'll also need to change previous code:

Code: Select all

.search-header {
    margin-top: -40px !important;
}
Into following code:

Code: Select all

.search-header {
    margin-top: 0 !important;
    box-shadow: 0px 0px 2px #505C65;
}

just fyi, both of those things and probably any other questions you have about how to do this stuff has already been answered hundreds of times. use the search and/or check the knowledge base articles and documentation.

all of that can be found in the menu at the top of every page.

this will usually save you a lot of time waiting on someone to come along and answer you.

what we often do is go to those places where the questions have already been answered, look for the answer for you, copy and paste it into a new reply to your post.

luck,
robert

Thank you Robert. I find it frustrating in my own forum when people ask the same question for the 100th time but I find this language hard to understand and in my early stages I do search first, this time I searched Google though for "remove search phpbb prosilver se" but the results were inappropriate.
I probably need to learn how to search for this language!
Thanks

Simon

PS
I just tried the search "search move" into the box at the top as you advise and voila - there it was. Sorry for time wasting!

which style are you using? anytime you are using a different style than prosilver you would edit the files that are in that style. if, the file is not in that style then it means that the custom style is a child of prosilver and therefore you would edit the relevant file that is in the prosilver folders.

if you are using both styles ( or more ) then you would need to do the edits to both styles.

if prosilver_se is the only style that you are using for all members then there is no reason to edit the prosilver files. you are not really suppose to edit them anyway.

that is what the whole child style/file inheritance thing is for, so you don't have to edit the standard core files.

Ah Ok, so the instructions above show to edit:

Overall_Header which is in BOTH Parent and child - but only edit the child.
Navbar_Header which is ONLY in Parent - so clearly just edit that one.

or, ( to confuse this a little more ) you can copy the navbar_header.html file from prosilver/template to prosilver_se/template. then edit that one.

the object here is to keep prosilver stock. that way, when you update in the future, there will be no edits to make to the prosilver files, just to your other ones.

Does that apply to all other files too? And do roots need to be updated or will it naturally work from either template?
