Updated Board Disabled warning

Post by fugglefeet » Mon Dec 12, 2016 6:20 pm

Hi all,

Here is another tutorial for those who want to change the existing Board Disabled message with a warning symbol. Here is what you need to do:-

1.) Make a copy of the prosilver style and give the folder/directory another name.

2.) Edit the copied style.cfg file to reflect the new style as follows:-
Change

Code: Select all

name = prosilver
on about line 22 to the same name as the folder chosen in step 1 for eg.

Code: Select all

name = mine
.

3.) Now add any warning images (preferably freeware) to the /{folder}/theme/images folder (where {folder} is the name given to the style copied from prosilver).

4.) Now edit overall_header.html with the following code:-
Find in overall_header.html under

Code: Select all

<!-- IF S_BOARD_DISABLED and S_USER_LOGGED_IN and (U_MCP or U_ACP) -->
the following

Code: Select all

		<div id="information" class="rules">
			<div class="inner">
				<strong>{L_INFORMATION}{L_COLON}</strong> {L_BOARD_DISABLED}
			</div>
		</div>
and replace it with:-

Code: Select all

		<div id="information" class="rules" style="background-color: #EBD9CA">
			<div class="inner">
				<center><img src="./styles/{folder}/theme/images/{Warning_Icon_Of_Choice}.{png|jpg}" alt="Warning" /></center>
				<center style="font-size: 24px"><strong>{L_INFORMATION}{L_COLON}</strong> {L_BOARD_DISABLED}</center>
			</div>
		</div>
5.) Now edit the message_body.html with the following code:-
Replace the section:-

Code: Select all

<div class="panel" id="message">
	<div class="inner">
	<h2 class="message-title">{MESSAGE_TITLE}</h2>
	<p>{MESSAGE_TEXT}</p>
	<!-- IF SCRIPT_NAME == "search" and not S_BOARD_DISABLED and not S_NO_SEARCH and L_RETURN_TO_SEARCH_ADV --><p><a href="{U_SEARCH}" class="arrow-{S_CONTENT_FLOW_BEGIN}">{L_GO_TO_SEARCH_ADV}</a></p><!-- ENDIF -->
	</div>
</div>
with the following code:-

Code: Select all

<!-- IF S_BOARD_DISABLED -->
<div class="panel" id="message" style="background-color: #EBD9CA">
	<div class="inner">
	<h2 class="message-title"  style="color: #AA0000; font-size: 36px">{MESSAGE_TITLE}</h2>
	<center><img src="./styles/{folder}/theme/images/{Warning_Icon_Of_Choice}.{png|jpg}" alt="Warning" /></center>
	<center><p style="color: #AA0000; font-size: 24px">{MESSAGE_TEXT}</p></center>
	</div>
</div>
<!-- ELSE -->
<div class="panel" id="message">
	<div class="inner">
	<h2 class="message-title">{MESSAGE_TITLE}</h2>
	<p>{MESSAGE_TEXT}</p>
	<!-- IF SCRIPT_NAME == "search" and not S_BOARD_DISABLED and not S_NO_SEARCH and L_RETURN_TO_SEARCH_ADV --><p><a href="{U_SEARCH}" class="arrow-{S_CONTENT_FLOW_BEGIN}">{L_GO_TO_SEARCH_ADV}</a></p><!-- ENDIF -->
	</div>
</div>
<!-- ENDIF -->
6.) With the editing done, upload the new style to the /styles/ folder/directory and log into the board as administrator to enable the new style. With the new style enabled and set as default, when a guest/member/administrator browses the board when it's disabled, there are 2 screens that can be seen respectively:-

Screen 1 shows what a guest/member will see when accessing the Board:-
Board Disabled.png
Screen 2 shows what an Admin will see when logged into the Board:-
Admin Board Disabled.png
Hope this is helpful.
