import ad-hoc forum into phpbb

Post by trigal » Sat May 07, 2016 9:57 pm

Hi everybody,

I'm currently trying to switch from an ad-hoc forum a guy wrote some years ago for the university into a more usable phpBB forum. The problem here is that this guy finished his studies and now I have an unmanageable website (written in ruby/rails... arghh).

I start having a look to the tables to create my TODO list, but as soon as I started migrating the users database I got my first issue, the passwords. In the previous db the passwords are not encrypted, but to insert all the users inside phpbb tables I need to create the hash-es...

suggestions?

thx guys..

Not sure how much this will help but this explains the class in phpBB 3.1 that handles this.

You can also look at this Extension for how to create password hashes:

Thank you so much. I used the code inside adduser_module of that extension and it worked like a charm! The next steps will include adding the forums and posts, I hope it is easier than this!

thx again bonelifer,
