Please describe your problem. Hi,

What I would like to know is the following: can I install a brand new phpbb 3.2.1 forum, while having an existing backup of IPB board database? I realise that I can convert from IPB to PHPBB, as see on topics about it, but I don't have the full IPB installation, just the most important part of it - sql backup of it.
I installed new phpbb, uploaded the convertor files, but then in one of the steps, for setting the database information, I came to the conclusion that it is asking for board path, which I don't have. So I have impression that this converstion is working really on the full board, and that having only a backup file is not enough?

Thank you!

Like the converter from phpBB2 you just need the config.php (or the IPB's equivalent) in place to connect the DB, not the whole lot. We may take the connection details from the DB backup and recreate the IPB's connector file.

Thanks, that confirmed my suspicion.

In the meantime I got the rest of the forum files and the access to the full board, so I managed to convert IPB board succesfully.

I guess this topic can be closed.
