Prime Ban to Group Reloaded

Post by totallybeautiful » Thu Jul 05, 2018 2:42 am

Hi anyone,

it would be really nice if this extension ( viewtopic.php?f=501&t=2280496 ) would be further developed, because it is exactly what I was looking for all the time.

It must be 3.2.2 compliant, an installation in my German forum still causes problems, because it changes the forum language.

Does anyone want to finalize this extension?

Thank you.

Can't you use Auto Groups for your purpose? https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... to_groups/
My extensions:
Simple CMS, Feed post bot, Avatar Resize, Modbreak, Magic OGP, Live topic update, Modern Quote, Quoted Where (GDPR) and Autoresponder.
Newest: FAQ manager for 3.2

Like my work? Buy me a coffee to keep it coming. :ugeek:

Auto Group is not suitable for this, because only this extension plays together with the ban function and automatically moves to groups in case of a ban and back again when the ban is lifted.

I have already tried the Ban Hammer, but you still have to do a lot manually.

PBtG is the only extension that does exactly what I want.

It just needs to be finished now.

Are you expecting banning a lot of people? I can't say I've had to ban anyone in many years.

Whether I have to exclude someone completely remains to be seen, but there will probably be many temporary bans.

Sensitive topics then attract many who either troll, mobben, or otherwise somehow want to spread discontent.

If Auto Groups can also be linked to the Ban function, how can I get suspended users on a ban to be pushed into a group with a special title and back into the original group at the end of the ban?

Should work even if the ban has been lifted manually.

I think that most people don't need any help with banning. banning is basically pointless to begin with.
having to move people around from a banned group and out again is rather pointless as well.

if someone breaks the rules, you can use the warning system and then ban them if needed. if you can't trust them to not keep breaking the rules then why would you want to remove the ban?

remember, it is your board, you make the rules and you can enforce them. if people keep breaking your rules you do not need them on your board at all.

makes way too much work for you.

Flaws can happen every time or rule violations, they are not directly excluded from the forum, they then only receive a smaller ban. They are only excluded if they are actually not suitable for the forum, i.e. in the case of serious violations such as denial of the Holocaust.
What bothers me is that the bans are completely invisible.

I would prefer that you recognize locked users and additionally it works as an example and at the same time everyone knows where they are.

Not only operators and moderators should be involved in the forum process, but also the users.

I don't want to do anything behind closed doors, but let everyone see what is going on and understand it.

And for that I need some kind of extension.
I have a community that makes my forum what it is and they should be treated as such.

Why should banned be visible? If it was some sort of a mob game i would understand, but at the moment i don't see the reason in provoking or just showing to all members who is banned. Is it me, or do i see 2 requests that differ a little?

Provoking members? Huh?

The users should only be marked as blocked.

Just like the extension here does.

I see a reason for this, which is why I am putting this question, even if there are perhaps some who see no reason.

And I don't want there to be any weird stuff posted here right now.

I ask whether I can be helped, regardless of whether someone else sees a reason for this or not, because I see reasons for it.

Everyone keep in mind that the Extension Requests forum is for people requesting extensions. It's not a place to shoot down extension requests because they don't fit with what you think should or shouldn't be done.
