This would definitely be a useful extension, I use it as a modification for a couple of years now. And I know a lot other users use it as well, so +1 for this one

Whoever takes this on could probably add a feature so that those who use ad blocker get a friendly message as to why ads are important to the community they are visiting.

I'd like this one as well but I'd prefer the same implementation as the one of phpbb.com, I guess it's a different modification.

As for the topic I too would love to see a port. I see there is a Quick Ads extension in the 'in development' section but it does not give as many feautres as we would all hope for.

It just seems most ppl that request this MOD/ext are not aware of browser ad blockers that let you browse the internets blocking most ads. I would love to see advertisement management in 3.1. Maybe even an upgraded version that allows skyscraper ads.
For some reason adblock does not pick up on the banners on my site. Any dev planning on updating this, please PM me so I can give the last update version for it. Since here it points to an older version. I got it before the dev shut down his own support forum.
Also it's going to be tricky. That the feature should automatically switch to smaller sized ads when it switches to smartphone view as apposed to full PC view.
