ReIMG Image Resizer

Post by SiteSplat » Wed Oct 29, 2014 2:21 pm

Surprisingly not asked yet? :-)
Resizes user-posted images, including or excluding signatures, that are too large, optionally overlaying a zoom button to view the original-sized image (optionally in a lightbox or even using Highslide JS).

Images are already resized to the width of the post window.
To see it bigger you just right click > view image

Sure thing. Let's tackle the practical side with some examples:

This image is 1920 × 1200 and if you expect an user to right click and view image, well that's not gonna work. Totally not UX friendly.

not sure what the rest of those images are in your post for.
however, the first image shows the complete image only resized. if you right click on it you can see the thing full size if you wish.

with the image resizer MOD you still had to right click to see the image full size anyway.

most people are quite used to right clicking on images etc. to access the menu there.

nope. litebox was there for a reason. ReIMG Image Resizer is more than just a resize image MOD.

well, your assumption that nobody will do it is a lot less likely to be true in my opinion.

you know what they say about assuming things.....

There's an extension in development, although I'm unsure if this is what you're talking about, but https://github.com/Tatiana5/Editor-of-attachments/

I guess the second image should be also resized.

There is already extension Lightbox for phpBB 3.1 in development which can, I believe, resize images (I didn't try it).

I think, non programmers are used to left clicking to open images into full size. I wouldn't click on that image with boat to see how it looks in full size, because there is not any sign to tell me it was resized.

yes, some people, but not most people.

if an image is already complete then I think most people that would even think about wanting to see it at its original size would be smart enough to consider right clicking to see what options would be there.

if they do not know about the right click menu it is doubtful they would even assume the image might be smaller than the original to begin with.

oh well, these are all just opinions about what most people would do ( including mine ) so until someone has done a study of all board users that view images, we are\ all just guessing.

luck,
robert

yup your right we are just guessing

but from my experience the world is full of idiots who haven't got a clue!

just think how many times you point people to the support template when they have trouble when its extremely easy to find and these are people who are supposed to know a little bit to run a forum ;)
