Meanwhile it's 2020 and we are now working with 3.2.9 ... still not default in phpBB to -move- topics after a certain time, only prune.
These where the developers, have they given up ?

The developers are working on phpBB.
You just have to wait for an extension author to pick this up.
But in the meantime you could make your specific storage forums and move the topics yourself. Surely you haven't been waiting since 2015 to do that?
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

I keep waiting, must be a very difficult extension to make if it takes that long, as often the case when something sounds easy :|

Sure when you use it only in one-or-two subfora, why bother with it, do it yourself. Why have the prune delete in the first place...

Point is that such a mod is mostly asked because it is more than a couple of fora, and (meanwhile) have cost a lot of time otherwise well spend.
Might have been the reason to introduce the prune delete function in the first place, now delete is not always the best option so add the move option to keep your 'bases covered' when the need arises to look something up otherwise deleted and lost for ever ;)

But hey, as said, I'll keep waiting and checking in to see if there is new talent these days who dare to pick up where others left off, maybe inspired by the old code still available in the mods database and maybe even improve it. :P Who knows :?:
