Add more Social media Profile fields

Hi,

I'd like to add more social media profile fields that display in the 'contact' drop down when viewing a topic.
I know you can simply add new profile fields, but there's no way to add the image for them in the contact area. Pretty disappointing really.

Ideally they should show just like/in all same places as the core facebook/twitter ones. My first proposal is Instagram

Unless somebody can suggest a way to edit these in then I'm all ears (And eyes).

Looks like you can add more either before or after the contact fileds but not within them.

With an image as well Rich?

I did add an extra one on my other 3.1 board, but it took a lot of messing about and I can't remember the specifics now. See paypal in pic below. But if there's an easier way, or perhaps an extension that can be made that would be great. I can probably look at the core code to add more again but I don't want to do that to then find an extension.

Bump! Would have thought there would be a lot more interest in this! Especially as it looks as though the Google+ field was done as a bit of an afterthought regards being in the core. In fact, maybe I can just have a look at how that pulls an image and copy how it's done...

Edit: Hmmm. Well it actually uses the same image 'sprite' jobby. So that image would have to be edited.

Edit: OK, I'm bored of waiting Quick hack to get Instagram and paypal in there...

1/ Download/save below pic as icons_contact.png, upload it to: yoursite.com/styles/prosilver/theme/images/icons_contact.png


2/ Look at your instagram profile field in the profile field acp section and note the name of it in the database.
It will be shown next to 'Field identification:'

3/ Open up: yoursite.com/styles/prosilver/theme/images/buttons.css

4/ After .phpbb_yahoo-icon { background-position: -224px 0; }
On a new line add .FIELD-IDENTIFICATION-icon { background-position: -287px 0; }
Replacing FIELD-IDENTIFICATION with your own from step 2.

5/ Save, refresh cache etc. Done.

No worries, it's the only way I can think to do it until somebody puts an extension together.

@Volksdevil, thanks for giving us a tip on how to add more custom icons. I swear I was wondering how come they could not add a form there to link a custom icon to the new profile field.

I wonder if there is Photoshop PSD for icons_contact.png?
