Not really, but ok I'll bite. How is a MOD, whose edits don't line up with 3.1 at all, useful here, mister 4seven?ViolaF wrote:Your opinion, yes
This MOD that you wrote (because I don't believe you just "found" it...) presents some of the problems already discussed in this topic, one of which is that it copies potentially copyrighted material to one's server. While this isn't prevented by the current attachments system, it is a little more difficult to do so and not a straight path to copyright violations and DMCA takedown notices.ViolaF wrote:its easy to transform and it gives an idea how it works, so this is my part of living in a community and i give my part to it, eg. find things on the net, to achieve something the people are after
in that case, why don't you at least give the user a clue about the fact that it will not work as is and will have to be completely rewritten in order to even have a chance at working as an extension. and since you are being so helpful you could simply create that extension for them since if they knew how they would not be here asking for someone else to do it for them.ViolaF wrote:its easy to transform and it gives an idea how it works, so this is my part of living in a community and i give my part to it, eg. find things on the net, to achieve something the people are after
why thank you, I think I will.ViolaF wrote:yap, go to hell, you sexy m****f*****
If you have thumbnails enabled then whatever is done to resize images on upload won't affect page load times at all. Page load times isn't really the reason this request exists. It's mostly about server space.Bullseye! wrote:Has there been any progress on this?
My board is managing with attachments & since I have allowed the uploading of attachments I have had more activity on my forum, it also helped that I posted instructions, members can even add photos from their phones directly from their cameras, I have have infinite storage space on my server anyway, I just keep an eye on the inodes............ however an extension that automatically resize attached images for faster loading times, would be a massive improvement, especially seeing as most people aren't that au fait with using computers anymore, so the [img] bbcode would be a bit of a puzzler to most, I would also like to see a reliable way to post videos, but I'll leave that to another thread lol...
Keep us posted with any progress.
