PM Popup notification

Post by Danny2h »

There is another topic, but to me it is in the wrong section.

There is no more an option to set a popup notification for an incoming PM

It can be an " old fashion " feature. but that's not the point. The point is the lack of choice.

So i request this feature again, maybe disabled by default settings, but still available on a per-user basis.

Why do you need a pop-up when you can have notifications? Both do the same job - one is core the other is not.

I agree with Danny. It may be an old feature but I miss it. It is easy to miss the PM notification especially on high res screens.

So I too would like to request the feature...

I think a better display of unread notification would be better than a pop-up.
Facebook, for example, does not use pop-up and you know when you have new notifications.
(same for PM)

It can be, absolutely, but notification is easy to miss right now, and my user and i requested the old feature again.

That's their choice, not mine or phpbb3 developers, i think.

I would like to see the popup come back also.

Hi, take a look on our extension "modernpninfo", which per animation (1s) centered at the top of the page pops up. Our "modernpninfo" (box) is responsive. We have developed the concept already in use for a long time and tested it in January 2015 for phpBB 3.1.* in the form of an extension. If you take them to use, it must be mentioned that we (still) have not found a way to let them off by the user.

The CSS is initially - color - focused on prosilver. The "modernpninfo" (box) is loaded when you receive a new private message, if you have JS allowed into the browser. Advanced to the count of the notification, so you've an additional function.

A modern effect (similar looks like a pop-up-function, but this is not a popup(!)) ..., - just try it, if you like ... ;)

Currently using the modernpninfo extension on my live board and it's working well. Thought that people might also be interested in an extension in Dev that is focused on the PM notification.
