Split Sticky, Announce from Forum View

Post by Miri4ever » Sat Mar 07, 2015 11:40 am

Has anyone made a extension for splitting Global Announcements, Announcements and Sticky from the Forumview inside own blocks. All announcements are already splited but not the global one. The global appear between the normal announcements and not at the far top, where it should be.

So I think splitting those all in own blocks would be helpfull.

Here is a 3.0.x MOD version of this feature to see if it can be converted to an extension: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/ ... _stickies/

I am also looking for that for my new site.

@SalazarAG, send me a PM with your IP address, so I can white-list you for a day, so you can view that page and download the MOD.

The problem isn't the lack of events (I currently have 80% of this extension coded). This is the problem. :(

Hi kinerity, there was a guy that shared a bunch of extensions that he was working on a few months ago that got removed. I believe it was because he flooded the board and there was a question as to his code quality and support. Anyhow, one of the extensions was this one. I don't know if the work he did would help with your dilemma or not but This is his extension. It may give you the info you need. :)

It separated the different types of topics as desired as you can see in the first pic. Normal, Sticky, Announce and Global.

The problem I found playing with it was if you changed the type of topic from announce to sticky as an example, it would lose a type or the header for the type (like announcement) would show, but be empty.

In the pic below I moved a few topics from announcement to sticky and you can see the sticky topics vanished even though there were a few stickied posts still.

Just thought it may help.

@Puchahawa, I took a look at his code, and I think I found why it has that bug.

He is using a script to make the separations in a HTML file: Click Here -- when it requires (I think?) and EVENT to be able to make this work.

Yes, I saw that extension, but ran into the same problem. This is why I started writing one that would use the correct extension conventions.

Glad you have taken on the task of creating this extension. 8-) Figured it may be worth pointing out the other one on the chance it may help. ;)

Thanks for the insight M.O.B.
