Who's reading what topic

Considering that Google Analytics isn't very accurate in tracking phpBB visitors, I'm wondering if there's an extension available or if a code can be provided to enhance the Who's Online list? I don't mind editing core files. I've looked around and haven't seen anything for it.

Me and my users would like to know what topics ours visitors are reading in the Who's Online. It's a very common feature on other forum softwares that I'm surprised hasn't been available for phpBB 3.1.x. I'm aware that the current Who's Online mentions what forum they are in, but it doesn't mention what topic they're reading.

I actually tried that, but the extension didn't seem to work after enabling it? My software's 3.1.9.

I'm interested to know why you feel the need to know who's reading what, what's the idea behind it?

This is a standard feature that is provided on many other forum softwares by default. MyBB, JCink, Proboards, and I do believe other paid softwares have this feature without questioning "why" somebody would need it.

My member base has grown accustomed to having this feature because of their experiences on other softwares. They'd like to be able to know what somebody's reading out of their own curiosity. As an admin, it's also nice to see who's reading what topic to see what's piquing a visitor's interests, and I do believe there was a mod at one point for this on 3.0.x.

And you have to edit core phpBB code which one shouldn't have to do.

For me it's not to spy on someone or violate their privacy by seeing where their going.

I may see someone reading a topic and out of curiosity click the link and see what's interesting.
I may have just posted and from wiw I can see someone is reading my post. That's nice.

Also having the who has visited this topic is nice. I can see who has been interested in my topic.
Showing who is subscribed to your topic is good info on top of all that.

IMO :)
