First, flag a user account as "Need to update email address"
-> This would trigger a notification to a user when they log in and tell about the problem/make them change the address.

second, when admin flags user account, it will disable all email functions to that account until email is good.
-> This will stop delivery failures from filling the admin email.

It is true you cannot notify the user unless they log in, but this way it would not fill the admin email with garbage and user is forced to deal with the issue when / IF they ever log in again.
Agreed, this would be a nice function to have. I don't want to just ignore bounced emails or send them to a black hole...

This is exactly how I have it set up for my 3.0 and 3.1-boards.
Oxpus did this code for me.
There is a message on top of the pages informing the member to change the address.
As soon as the email-address is changed the flag is removed.
I also disable downloading from the DL-Mod/Ext and some other vital functions with the flag.
@bipolarmorgan, ask Oxpus ...

Are you saying the code exists for 3.2.x ? And that I am to ask a username: Oxpus ?? (whom I apparently cannot PM)

Back with this again! Would anyone know if this kind of EXT exists or would someone be willing to code one? :)

I am using this ext: https://github.com/picaronin/No_DEA_Emails

It is a good way to prevent spam + prevent users to use temporary emails + it has the capability of forcing users to update their email.

What it doesn't do: it doesnt stop sending emails to users flagged with the forced email update.

Maybe if we send some love to the developer he may be willing to add the feature.

Kudos

That's a good one, thanks! :)

And if you send him/her love, please send mine, too. :D

I offered up an idea that would help prevent this, the basic idea is the admin would set a time limit that would suspend email notifications until the user re-validated their email address. Time limit could be months, years.... Avoids any work of flagging accounts and is fairly seamless for the user.

I like it! I went ahead and upvoted it. Thanks for letting us know about that suggestion. :)
