Twitterfeed alternative required - Post to social sites

Post by Volksdevil »

As title, I'm looking for an alternative to http://twitterfeed.com/ which has sadly now closed down its service.

The basic premise is an extension that would allow us to choose forums that can have new topics automatically posted to selected social media sites, primarily twitter, facebook.

Hoping somebody can come up with something. Especially as 'paid' services have popped up everywhere now that twitterfeed has closed down

Otherwise very expensive

Yeah, very limiting...I have quite a few websites that all need to at least post to twitter and facebook.

Please let us know which one you use.
Then we can also use it.

Indeed, that's why I'm seeking an alternative. I think it's pretty important for a board to share topic to other social platforms these days. An extension to allow that to happen automatically would be superb.

I used to use twitterfeed also. In the end I decided to just go without the feed because it really didn't drive a whole lot of traffic anyway so it really just became more social media "noise".

In the meanwhile I have been using IFTTT, but I'm not really satisified with it. But maybe it is an option for some of you?

Oh did they close down. We used it for phpBB.com as well and that explains why it's no longer working.

Was considering having a look at IFTTT but I've seen a few mentions of it not being great. (I do use it for home automation etc with great success).

Wow, I didn't realise PHPBB itself used it. And yep, sadly closed down Derky.

I used IFTTT reluctantly but its been working so well I'm staying with it, I have 8 feeds going to twitter running through it very happily and if I want to expand to other social networks it will be extremely easy.

No control over frequency but I'm sure I'm getting better than 15 minute intervals for my main feeds, one really nice thing is that there doesn't seem to be a quantity restriction which twitterfeed had.

It started out as a quick and dirty fix but I can't see any reason to leave.
