Installing Facebook Pixel in 3.2

Post by lloydc1 » Thu Nov 16, 2017 11:46 am

Hi,

I want to use facebook ads to promote my forum, but I want to be able to track conversions and pay based on results. To do this I need to install a pixel, but I have no idea which page to install it on so that it only charges me when a registration is completed.

There is already a post on this, but it's on 3.1 and nobody replied.

I'd be eternally grateful if someone could give me some advice on this matter.

Thanks

Just one pixel?

It might help if you supply the code you have.

Sorry, should've thought about that.

This one is supposed to go between the "header tags"

Code: Select all

<!-- Facebook Pixel Code -->
<script>
!function(f,b,e,v,n,t,s)
{if(f.fbq)return;n=f.fbq=function(){n.callMethod?
n.callMethod.apply(n,arguments):n.queue.push(arguments)};
if(!f._fbq)f._fbq=n;n.push=n;n.loaded=!0;n.version='2.0';
n.queue=[];t=b.createElement(e);t.async=!0;
t.src=v;s=b.getElementsByTagName(e)[0];
s.parentNode.insertBefore(t,s)}(window,document,'script',
'https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/fbevents.js');
 fbq('init', '1210687092319625');
fbq('track', 'PageView');
</script>
<noscript>
 <img height="1" width="1"
src="https://www.facebook.com/tr?id=1210687092319625&ev=PageView
&noscript=1"/>
</noscript>
<!-- End Facebook Pixel Code -->
and this one is the "standard event code"

Code: Select all

fbq('track', 'CompleteRegistration');

I've read the guide on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/business/help/402791146561655), and I have an idea, I just want to make sure I'm doing it right so I don't get charged per click instead of per registration.

Thanks

I tried putting it in to my theme's overall_header.html file before the </head> tag, but facebook didn't find it.

Any help? I'm using the theme "basic"
