Is there a good spam ext that is good

Post by bigjoe11a » Sat Dec 16, 2017 6:00 pm

I just started up a new host with phpbb and I'm not up for less than a day and I'm already getting hit with spammers like crazy. I see this is more then one and I just don't want to download all of them until I can find one that's works. Does anyone know a good ext that will stop the bot or users posting this crap.

Thanks
Joe

The inbuilt Q&A will work with a qood question that can not be Googled. Other than that The Sortables CAPTCHA works well, as does KeyCaptcha (un approved but was a very effective 3.0.x mod that was ported to an Extension at my request)

The correct use of the NRU group (Newly Registered Users) and the inbuilt Q&A captcha sat with an "ungoogleable" question will effectively do.

exactly, that's what I have used for a good couple of years

occasionally a spammer will get through the Q+A but moderators will catch them because new members need posts approved

works like clockwork !! :D

yes I see that at the top. That is a good idea. That way I don't have them posting in all the forums. Just the main forum. That is a very good idea.

Errn..
they could post in all the fora where those have been sat to accept posting, except that those posts will go directly in the moderation queue where the moderator will see if and where that post will be visible.
