My guess is no one really understands what the link is showing.

Does it mean if that post has had a warning applied to it then it turns red?
Does it mean if the user has been warned all their posts are red?
Does it mean that post has been flagged up for moderators to look at?

From what I gather, what is wanted is that a moderation post made by a moderator (not a standard forum post by a moderator) should be distict e.g. have a red background.


I achieve something similar with a BBcode (viewtopic.php?f=616&t=2414676&p=1468874 ... #p14688741 and I changed the mod BB code).

This extension: viewtopic.php?f=616&t=2423486&hilit=bbcode can do the same (without all the extras from the previously mentioned extension).

No, this is a post by a (former) moderator, who informs the users with this post to stop their disputes. This post can only post a moderator, because he has this feature in his editor, normal users but not. So this post has an official lead function that users have to follow. I would like something for my forum, an extension that also gives moderators the opportunity to write such a post in red.

I am not interested in the font color, but in the background color of the entire posting bar. Just as it can be seen in the link.

So basically you want that whole postrow (including the profile part) to have a red background.
I have 2 thoughts about that.
1. If the post is an expression of moderation, then the distinghuishing colours of the post-area en hance the moderation aspect, however, those with moderation permission also write non-moderation related posts. These should (IMHO) not look any different from other users' posts.
2. The profile part should not stand out so much. Moderators are also members with opinions similar to those of the general members, their profile part usually already differs from others' due to username colours, specific avatars or ranks/images. Making the whole profile part so different from others will probably create a threshold making a normal non-moderation communication less likely.

I think that an extension taking those 2 points into consideration could well be received quite positively. However, since the effect can be more or less achieved with BBcode only, I wouldn't bet on anyone taking this on.

Exactly, the moderators should be able to select this function in their editor in order to be able to write this kind of a post, so that they can also write normal posts if they are not moderating.

In my search for my proposal, I already came across it and other codes like ModBreak, but that's not what I'm looking for, so I can't be satisfied.
