Post voting system

Post by bdube30 » Tue Mar 13, 2018 9:01 pm

Hi,

I wanted to add in my forum a way user can upvote or downvote post.

I've search for existing extension, I found these one that look like in part of what I want on my forum :

Topic/Post Reactions(like, happy, thanks, angry)

But this extension was abandonned, and the last version didn't work on my forum installation (3.2).

I'm a front end developper, so I read the extension creation documentation of PHPBB, and I tried to make my own extension. I suceed to add the HTML at the good places :

But I,m at the step of trying to register the vote in ajax in the databse, and this is going far my area of competence in developement. I found nothing on the phpbb documentation for creating a custom field in database for saving the votes.

In theory, I wanted to have two value in database link to each post, the upvote, and the downvote.

Anyway, I don't know if there someone who are able to do this kind of developpement ? or helping me in some way.

I will try to do a document, well structure for my precise need. I think there space here to create an extension who can be usefull for the entire community. I think this is a feature that many others platforms offer natively, and this is a lack in phpbb in my opinion.

Thank you

This is a more detailed, and more structured document to explain precisely waht I want to do, and the features I see for this extension :
