In the current form of our extensions system, that would be very difficult.

You would have to change the name of the extension in all possible places in the files where the name is mentioned, both in the code and in the tables it would add to the database. If you would miss one instance of a name, that might already mess the entire extension up.

I think your best shot would be to ask in the Recent Topics extension support area and explain what you want to do.
It might be possible to edit the existing extension to suit your needs instead of trying to duplicate it into two separate extensions. :)

Thanks for your answer
In my forum users need two seperate recent topics.one for all topics and another one for specific forum category.
At the current moment i am using topstats and recent topics. But in topstats i can not exlude some forum from 10 active topics. Therefore i want to duplicate recent topics extension.

All extension support is via the author in the dedicated discussion/support forum for your extension.

For something so simple, there is no need for duplicate extension. You only need a condition check for $forum_id, if there is one, show specific data if not show all. That is all there is)

If that extension you are using has that functionality, then no edits are required. The point is, that you need a forum_id for the sql query, if non is given then by default it fetches all data from all the forums, if forum_id exist, then it fetches specific data from assigned forum_id. It is just a condition check, it will do what is asked.
