Display Name instead of Username

I found a lot of discussion on this in 3, but not an actual solution and I haven't found one in 3.2.2

What I want is that instead of displaying the user name that a person registered with, I want it to show the "display name" profile field that I added and which is admin controlled so I don't have to police my board for stupid/offensive user names.

Can anyone help?
