They can set that in their ucp: ucp.php?i=ucp_prefs&mode=post "Notify me upon replies by default"

for what purpose? it already will notify you if you are subscribed to the topic.

what are you trying to accomplish?

i mean when users are not checked "notify upon reply me" when they post topic or smb reply in topic this option would can check automatically check when founder is check option in ACP "make automatic check notify upon reply me" or smth like this

By default I think he wants everyone to be subscribed to new replies.
Be aware this can put a big load on the mail server if you get a lot of users or a long topic and also you will be forcing them to have an email they didn't ask for which people don't usually like so they will probably turn it off after a couple of emails.

This info is old but I believe still applicable. Back up the file before you do it.
