looking for a set of special characters

I run a language discussion board and we often want to mark sentences as grammatically correct or incorrect, and what I'm looking for is an extended set of special characters like a big green check mark for correct, and a big red X for wrong or incorrect . . . and maybe a strikeout feature, where letters in a word can show up posted with strikeouts through the middle of them. Like a crossed out word.

Those are the three in particular I need, but I'm supposing there is a more rounded-out set of extras in some extension out there?

You can add other BBcodes i.e. images for X and checkmarks

It's all doable with BBcodes I think using fontawesome icons as well, for sure the strikethrough is here implemented as well.

True, but I have had the need to insert comments within posts in a different style and that extension has a couple which really helped me in defining my own "special" message layouts. I still have it installed on localhost

warmweer, do you have a screenshot or something to illustrate your last, i.e. adding comments in a special layout in a post?

Fontawesome is built-in feature in phpBB 3.2.x.

I posted somewhere those bbcodes BTW, try searching because I am a bit busy at the moment.
In case I will try and post the links if I will find the time and, ofcourse, those posts of mine

warmweer, do you think the Advanced Code Box will work on 3.2.0? It stipulates 3.2.2 I think.

btw warmweer that other solution you gave me to that NRUgroup problem worked -- I don't know why it worked, I didn't think I even changed anything, but I went through it and it worked. thanks for that --

I'ld have to look for that. I used it on a old friend's forum (3.0.x) and that's backuped on one of my external disks (something I'm not going to look through now).

On localhost on PC I have it installed on phpBB 3.2.1 (version 3.1.4)
I took and image of a test post but can seem to attach it to this post (strange, because I did post an image earlier today, or yesterday, perhaps in another subforum). I'll try to PM it.

You can make a strike-out bbcode, just like we have here.
For your checkmark, just use an Emoji like this:
