looking for a way to mark topics / posts with a tag only moderators can see

Hello,
I'm looking for a way that a phpbb community moderator team can tag / mark posts / topics in a way that normal users cannot see these marks / tags.

The reason is that our moderator team is growing and I would like to avoid that two people spend time on the same topic. So the idea for difficult questions would be to mark them as "mod XY is working on this" or something similar.

any idea how I could achieve that?

PS: I tried searching but tagging and moderator did not give me anything helpful result for use case above. I also did not find an extension in the list that seems to be built for that.

Use the Report-function?
Users cannot see reports.
