Dead extension? Sitemap

Post by php_mike »

Just started using phpbb again, it's been a while.
I need to generate a sitemap but the only extension that shows up doesn't seem to have been updated since 2016.

Is there some other way to generate a sitemap?

Also, I'm not sure what the ramifications are of using outdated extensions or if it is as simple as removing them if they don't work.
Can someone shed light on this?

Does it not work for you? It's a fairly simple extension and should work on 3.3.

I didn't try it yet, I thought I should ask first. Based on the rest of the input, it sounds like it might work.

just FYI, many , if not most extensions will work in 3.2
some will also work in 3.3
however, the quickest way to find out is to install it. if it doesn't work, simply disable it and uninstall it.
or, you can disable it and then ask the author how to make it 3.3 compatible.

it would be rare that installing and enabling an extension would cause any problems that disabling it and uninstalling it won't solver instantly.

so, like my software engineer mother taught me; " Make a backup and then push the button and see what happens."

I wondered about that, installing and uninstalling, what kind of residue might be left behind if an extension didn't work.

none. that is the whole point of extensions, they do not edit any core files. they are totally self contained.

as long as you disable it , then delete data, before you uninstall it you will be fine.

Self contained? Nicely designed.

Thanks.
