Re: [RC] Cookie Policy

Post by sw0277 »

This is a great extension and works well, I do have 1 question though...

My site has a fixed background image and when you view the cookie policy its hard to read because the text is over top of the background image.

Which file would I need to edit so I could include a background color to make the cookie policy easier to read? I looked in the cookie.css file but everything I seen pertains to the "cookie-box", unless I'm missing something.

Thanks in advance...

In cookie.css there is this block

Code: Select all

/* Edit these to change the text and/or background colours */
	color: #DBDB00;
    background-color: #00608F;
Change those to whatever you want

Thanks for your quick reply. I have change the background color per your suggestion but it only changes the background color for the pop up box.

I am trying to change the background color for the page that the displays the cookie policy when clicking the cookie link in the bottom menu.

The pop up box that asks you to accept the cookie policy is fine, you can read that easily. I would like to add a solid color to the page that displays the cookie policy.

Please see here https://torchzone.com/cookiepolicy/cookie

As you can see the font is white and because of my background image it strains your eyes when trying to read it.

That page just uses "standard" prosilver css - there is not really a lot that I can do about that without making it style specific and then it would affect the whole style.

Open the following with proper text editor:
ext/david63/cookiepolicy/styles/all/template/cookie_body.html

Find:

Code: Select all

<!-- INCLUDE overall_header.html -->
	{COOKIE_MESSAGE}
<!-- INCLUDE overall_footer.html -->
Replace with:

Code: Select all

<!-- INCLUDE overall_header.html -->
<div style="background:#000;padding:5px;">
	{COOKIE_MESSAGE}
	</div>
<!-- INCLUDE overall_footer.html -->
Save changes. Obviously if the extension is updated, you would more than likely lose the background again.

@Volksdevil, thanks for the help, that's exactly what I was looking for. Yeah, I'm aware that if there's an update my changes will be lost. I take note and back up any files I edit so if there's an update I can easily restore the edits.

@david63, Great extension... I'm using 3 of your extensions and they all run great. Thanks for taking the time to build these and share them, it's greatly appreciated.

Only three - what about the others :lol: :lol: :lol:

If you don't mind I may look at adding that as a configurable option.

I'm sure I'll end up with a few more of your extensions, lol...

I think having the option to choose a background color for the cookie policy page would be a nice touch.

I have updated this to version 1.1.0

There has been a lot of reworking of the code and the options have been simplified. The big addition is that you can now customise the colours for both the Cookie Policy page and the Cookie Acceptance box.

(It has also meant that the language files have had some significant changes made to them)

I don't believe the "Show on index page" setting is working correctly now. If you set it to "index page" you don't get the popup asking to accept the policy on the index page. However, if you set it to "All" then the popup box works on the index page.

Thanks - fixed. Just re-download

@david63, sorry man but I found another little issue, lol...

After clicking "I Accept" on the popup message, refresh the page and scroll to the bottom. Right above the bottom menu is another message asking you to accept.
