Post by Paul » Sun Aug 03, 2014 12:44 pm

This is a extension version of my Profile Guestbook MOD, however completely rewritten for phpBB 3.1, due to that upgrading from the previous version won't be supported, you will need to remove the old MOD.

Extension Name: Profile Guestbook
Author: Paul

Extension Description:: This extension adds a Guestbook to every users profile, where other users can post comments and stuff.
Extension Version:: None yet.

Demo URL: Will follow when development is finished for most feature.
Demo Username:
Demo Password:

Extension Download: No download yet, however you can follow development at https://github.com/paul999/profile-guestbook-ext

Development of the Profile page adds a depth to the whole forum community and is a great positive to bring to your real members! didn't even know this was on the cards so great surprise

The extension is still in development, so not finished yet. You will need to wait untill there is a release for it to be usable.

well done i'm waiting for it.
2 suggestions:
1- use notification system if a comment received
2- use ajax system for posting a comment without refresh page.

thank a lot.

+1

In addition, via the ACP (and maybe the UCP) add an option that the admin can use to limit the qty of Comments that displays (per page?).

The first version will probably as basic as possible. Features like AJAX might be added to later versions.

will this be in conflict with phpBB WALL ?

that's the great part about this extension!

we don't want it to replace the default profile page ... in order to use cover photos .... or in order to do anything else

I thought extensions would not interfere with core code and the Profile page is pretty core IMHO

looking good though - some nice screenshots and your real users would be mightily impressed I think
Speak for yourself.

I hate the current (3.x (all versions)) profile page and I thought (and was hoping) that this extension replace it.

@ Gabriel - If not, can a option be added via the ACP that will enable/disable replacing the profile page?

In addition, code the ext in a way so plugins from other exts (that would normally be added to the profile page) can easily be added/coded.
if phpBB Wall replaces the 3.x profile page how would that effect THIS Ext?

I have no idea if it will conflicts. This extension uses the default available events on the profile page.

Seems not compatible with 3.1.2 for information ;)

Code: Select all

Fatal error: Call to undefined method paul999\profileguestbook\migrations\add_permissions::depends_on() in /home/XXXXXX/forum/phpbb/db/migrator.php on line 217

Well, instelling the extension doesn't make sense anyway, as it is not finished at all. You really shouldn't be installing extensions that are in the development forum.
