FYI : some of you tried, and are steping into some difficulties to set up the paths
I'm working on it to make it easier (even going into self-configuration)
For those who wants to try out, please refers to the "Bugs" parts of github https://github.com/Wardormeur/wpphpbbunicorn/issues

Last push on phpbbwp allowed group-role assignation for creation & update
Looking forward 3.1.5 to simplify path configuration as of https://github.com/phpbb/phpbb/pull/3672

So am I reading this correct now? The group permissions from Phpbb now transfer to wordpress? I'm about ready to try it if that is the case.

Do you have any readme files for install procedures?

And again, if I want phpbb to manage everything do I need to install the wordpress plugin or the phpbb extention?

Yes, it support them but it still needs improvements : choosing the "right group" or the "right user" in case of multiple groups is a bit.. non-assured.
To allow synchronization of users (copy phpbbUsers to WP) PLUS single sign-on, you need both of them.
I would encourage you to wait for the fix for 3.1.5 to come in order to have a simpler installation process.
The actual is a bit messy in order to support Windows path (my dev environnment atm for any phpBB related project), but still works (at least on my stack  )

Considering how it works at the moment (specifying ONE config file), I'd recommand to duplicate the plugin and changing the name to obtain a multiple instance of the same plugin. That's purely theorical and haven't been tested however, as it may be necessary also change the namespace to avoid php class loading collision.
It may become an option.

The phpbb plugin (phpbbwpu) has been updated 2 weeks ago, no big changes, some initial config fixes.
On the wordpress side (wpphpbbu) I fixed some of the workflow (initial configuraiton was effectively broken at some point) and will update the repo online asap (will bump this topic when did). It'll also include autoposting :)

New update for wpphpbbu, should be more stable and installation process less of a pain :)
Feedback welcome

Hi, Can you explain in laymans terms (Simple terms) what this actually does and how it works?

I've only just started using WP.

Do I have this correct?

If I have a WP site at Example.com, when people post on my PHPBB board at OtherExample.com then the posts will appear at the WP site?

Is that what this does?

Thanks.

There is 2 extensions, one for WP, and one for phpbb
With the 2 extensions, you can share the users from phpbb to WP
With the WP extension, you can publish an article or a page to a specific forum, you can also display some informations regarding the forum as tehre is multiples widgets available (connected user, lasts posts, etc)
With the phpbb extension, you cannot do much more than sharing the users atm.

To asnwer simply : your use case is not done (yet?), but the opposite is.

As a widget, yes. As a page (1 topic = 1 article), no (t yet)

I saw you updated the vendor directory so I grabbed it and this time it worked but crashed when I didn't have the path set correctly.

I disabled and deleted the extension, uploaded everything again and started fresh but then got this error -

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 32 bytes) in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/ext/wardormeur/phpbbwpunicorn/vendor/nikic/php-parser/lib/PHPParser/NodeAbstract.php on line 34

There are also 2 coding errors on the WordPress plugin side.

In the wpphpbbunicorn.php file:

Lines 166 and 172, change the back slashes to forward slashes.
